Welcome to the Oklahoma Speech Language and Hearing Association.

This year the Association will use the materials developed by Mona Ryan and Suzanne Stanton during their terms as President to achieve the specific goals outlined in the OSHA strategic plan.  The Strategic plan provides a map to assure that the Association is working for the membership in the areas of advocacy, recruitment and retention of membership and continuing professional development.

The professions of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology change rapidly.  To assure that the diversity of individuals with disabilities is served, OSHA works to provide dynamic educational opportunities.  Continued professional development can be achieved through the OSHA Conference in September under the direction of OSHA Vice President, Karen Patterson.   In addition, there are several conferences and workshops scheduled around the state.  To obtain additional information concerning these workshops, please view the OSHA Calendar.

OSHA is working to help the membership remain current on the legislative actions that influence our professions.  Our Governmental Regulations committee reviews the bills that are submitted and active a grassroots email and calling tree that will keep the membership aware of actions that affect how we work.  To help keep legislators aware of the OSHA mission and current issues, our annual ice-cream social is scheduled for May 1, 2008 at the State Capital.

Recruitment and retention of members is a major task for most associations.  OSHA has established a connection with the student National Student Speech-Language and Hearing Association (NSSLHA).  This link will allow students to experience advocacy, interact with committee members, and share the needs of the students with OSHA.

Remember that the OSHA website and the web forum are updated frequently so that important announcements and issues can be discussed.  Be sure to visit often and use the forum to discuss and learn about educational issues and upcoming audiology issues.  Use OSHA's email or contact OSHA by phone to obtain additional information.

Best regards,
Eva Saffer
